Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize for Literature
In October, singer-songwriter Bob Dylan was awarded The Nobel Prize for Literature. However, he wasn't at the awards ceremony because he thought he had no chance of winning and he still hasn't come to collect the award or the prize money.
The two articles I read were from BBC and NBC. In the BBC article, they focus more on why Dylan won the award and what is so significant about his win. BBC said "Bob Dylan became the first songwriter to win the prestigious award, and the first American since novelist Toni Morrison in 1993" and "He received the prize 'for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.'"
In the NBC article, they focus on why Dylan didn't react to his win right away. This main focus is shown even in the headline which says Bob Dylan Breaks His Silence After Winning Nobel Prize in Literature. From the beginning of the article, it is assumed that readers are already aware of the fact that he won the prize and are more so interested in what he has to say about the win after being quiet for so long.
Although it took longer than expected, Dylan will be accepting his award this weekend in Stockholm and will send in a taped version of his lecture.
