Gillian Anderson and Jennifer Nadel release We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere

On March 7th, X-Files star Gillian Anderson, along with Journalist Jennifer Nandel released their book entitled We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere. The book follows nine key principles that should be followed by all women including honesty, acceptance, truth and peace.

I read about this book using The Independent and Elle Magazine. Both included interviews with one or both of the ladies that included details from their writing process to motherhood. However, the articles were slightly different.

The Independent focuses more on Anderson's fame and her experiences with the wage gap and more. They actually do not interview Nandel at all. Which I found to be a little unfair. Nevertheless, Anderson co-writing the book was more of the focus of the article as opposed to the book itself. They quoted her on saying "...because of my own experience working in the industry and being offered 50% less of what a co-worker was...I decided to speak out." By including a quote like this, it makes Anderson appear much more relatable to readers; the wage gape doesn't exclude celebrities.

On the other hand, Elle's article include much more about the book itself and included an interview with both Anderson and Nandel. This article gave an overview of the plot only briefly touches on Anderson's past with the X-Files. The main purpose of this article, I believe, was to explain why the book was written and give insight on how it affected both of the writers. I saw this purpose when Nandel was quoted saying "We realized we were coming at the same issues from different angles, so they floated together perfectly."

We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere is an important read for women nowadays. Not just because it was written by two talented women, but because it will show women what they need.
